Location Overview
Dan Cogan, President of UpNorth Motors Inc. is personally acquainted with all aspects of car and truck rental businesses, working for Ryder and Budget Car Rental before becoming a Budget franchisee in the Boston market. Dan moved to a U-SAVE Auto Rental franchise when his Budget location was purchased by the corporate office in 1984, and he has been a U-SAVE franchise ever since. UpNorth Motors first became a TSD customer in 1989 with the TSD CONTROLLER Legacy product, expanding their licensing and software options as they have grown, and in 2004, Dan converted their locations to TSD's ASP Advantage and RezCentral option, the only rental and reservation solution endorsed by U-SAVE Auto Rental of America, Inc.
TSD's ASP Advantage and RezCentral products provide U-Save Franchisees with industry leading TSD RENTAL Management Software, a live booking engine for internet reservations, and unparalleled support and service.

Supporting Software
Dan's locations target rental revenue in two metropolitan areas, Boston and Providence, which are geographically close enough to allow frequent modifications in fleet allocation between locations to improve utilization all round. To manage his busy locations, Dan requires the timely, on-target information provided by TSD RENTAL Management Software, and cites some key reports that he relies upon every day, “The ability to setup all locations on a common database, and to compare the data contained in the Fleet Inventory with the Reservation Manifest, allows me to manage our fleet effectively and increase productivity.”

The ASP (Application Service Provider) Advantage allows rental agents to access industry leading TSD RENTAL Management Software over the internet, instead of purchasing application licenses that are located on their own internal servers. With the TSD ASP Advantage option, all applications and business data are located and maintained in TSD's secure data warehouse. Company business data and the applications systems are always available and easily accessed with local workstations and a high speed internet connection, eliminating the investment, maintenance and dedicated IT staff members required for internal servers.

The TSD ASP Advantage also facilitates the use of RezCentral, a valuable reservations tool which can allow you to promote your rates and availability to a much wider market. TSD has worked with U-SAVE Corporate to provide a seamless solution that can book cars through U-SAVE Corporate's Reservation site as well as travel sites such as Orbitz, via a vast array of booking engines.
RezCentral reporting options allow you to monitor activity, bookings and view comparative reservation data from prior periods. The RezCentral Rate Update features allow you to adjust rates for multiple booking channels with one timesaving screen. Reservations and cancellations are updated directly into TSD RENTAL Management Software, streamlining reservation management.

On Target Marketing and Promotion
When Source of Business Analysis reports began to indicate a significant decrease in bookings from conventional advertising, such as Yellow Pages ads, Dan realized early on that internet exposure was the key to better promotion, and future revenue. UpNorth Motors had been participating in some internet travel sites prior to purchasing TSD's RezCentral product to take advantage of the U-SAVE program design.

Dan is pleased with the results of his choice, stating, “Since we began using RezCentral to expose rates to the Internet both on the U-SAVE booking site and the Travel sites, all of our locations have experienced an increase in reservations, and we have seen an average increase in business of 20%.”

The Next Step
Using RezCentral has provided in increase in business for all locations, with those locations nearest the airport experiencing the most dramatic spikes. To capitalize on this newly captured demand, UpNorth will be adding a location at Logan Airport in Boston later this year.
